PowerPoint Made Simple

Enabling teams to create polished presentations that everyone can use.

Context & Goals

Organizations often rely on PowerPoint, Google Slides, or Keynote as primary communication tools, but these platforms can be creative bottlenecks. Non-designers struggle to make slides look polished, and designers are frustrated by limitations, since these tools aren’t designed for advanced creative work. The result is tension between presentation quality and usability.

The goal of this project was to empower the entire cross-functional team (not just designers!) to create presentations that are visually appealing, on-brand, and fully editable, turning slides from a creative-only task into a shared, approachable tool.

The Challenge

PowerPoint needed to work for 70 team members across departments, each with different levels of experience and comfort using the platform. Some were unfamiliar with basic features, while others had advanced skills. The challenge was to design a training and system that would make creating polished, on-brand presentations accessible for everyone, without overwhelming anyone or compromising quality.

My approach

I led a hands-on, company-wide training that covered every step needed to make PowerPoint approachable and effective.

Shared practical tips and shortcuts to speed up workflow and avoid common pitfalls

Demonstrated how to edit and use master slides to maintain consistency across presentations

Showed techniques for combining decks without creating visual chaos

Emphasized white space and layout principles to improve clarity and readability

Created branded templates with multiple layouts and placeholders, designed to guide users and reduce errors

The goal was to ensure everyone felt confident using PowerPoint, from beginners to advanced users, and to create a reusable system that supported both creativity and efficiency.

Impact & Reflection

The training successfully increased confidence and competence across the organization. Teams that previously avoided designing slides now felt empowered to create polished, functional presentations, reducing friction for both creative and non-creative stakeholders.

This project highlighted how strategic design thinking can extend beyond traditional creative deliverables, solving workflow and adoption challenges, and turning a common pain point into an opportunity for impact.
