Akilah Newton Projects

The specs

Akilah Newton Projects is a combination of projects by Akilah Newton herself – pretty self explanatory as title! She was looking to have a website to showcase her numerous projects.

The idea

Create a website that showcases the various projects of ANP (Akilah Newton Projects)! We wanted to add color, and adding the ribbons to each page felt like a great way to add a splash of color.

The challenges

The most challenging part was finding the right colors to match the variety of projects.

The overall feeling

I find the Akilah Newton Projects’ website looks great: it has a colorful side (and a few fun elements throughout) that make it playful enough, but it’s also doing a great job of showcasing the work Akilah does.

Big Dreamers Store

The specs

Big Dreamers is a facet of Akilah Newton Projects. As Akilah started releasing new products, she decided to create her own online store. It’s a WooCommerce based e-commerce store and since launching the website, she has released nearly ten additional products.

The idea

As the logo and color theme were already in place for the Big Dreamers brand, my focus was to create a seamless online store that showcased just how awesome the products are. They’re so great that it really wasn’t hard.

The challenges

It’s not exactly a challenge, however when we launched the website, there was only one product. It’s hard to showcase just how great an online store can be with a singular product.

The overall feeling

The Big Dreamers website is doing great. I’m proud of how well the website turned out.

Overture with the Arts

The specs

Overture with the Arts is a Montreal based non-profit. Their website was six years old, so it needed a bit of a refresh.

The idea

Since their branding was already established, I stuck to the colors used in their logo for the entirety of the site. I focused mainly on the green and yellow as they went so well together.

The challenges

Finding the right way to showcase just how much Overture with the Arts has been in the news was a fun challenge. A long list of links showed how much they had been featured, but it didn’t really capture attention. I think I found a great way to showcase their media history. Take a look.

The overall feeling

I think the website really represents Overture with the Arts: it’s playful and fun, and I think it really shows off all the aspects of the non-profit. My favourite part is the numbers on the home screen that showcase just how much they’ve achieved.

Mantra Yoga Studio

The specs

Create a fictional brand, and give it the works. Business cards, stationary, a website, and anything else you may feel like doing. Must be done in a team (this branding was designed with Isabelle Rochette)

The idea

A yoga studio based on the west of the island of Montreal. The branding would be soothing and refreshing. My favourite part was choosing the exact shade of green, which in my opinion, is essentially perfect for this brand.

The challenges

The logo. It started off so promising, but the feedback on my favourite choices was that they were just like all the other yoga logos that already existed. The final logo is definitely different from the average logo, but I am not convinced it is the best.

The overall feeling

I like that the branding for this is all around very soothing, I find it easy to tell that it is a yoga studio.

Griff Cafe

The specs

Create a full branding kit for a fictional restaurant of your choice.

The idea

Griff Cafe is a fictional restaurant that focuses on being allergy friendly, and it has a unique “quiet section” where introverts can hide away in peace.

The challenges

The hardest thing to come up with was the logo – once that was in place, and I was happy with how it looked in all sorts of environments, the rest of it came easy.

The overall feeling

I am quite happy with how the branding for this project worked out. It took a fair bit of time, but I feel like there is a clear brand identity.

Pop Art Website

The specs

Create a website about Pop Art, in the style of Pop Art.

The idea

Pop Art is all about bright, bold colors, repeated patterns, and everyday objects seen as art… So that was the idea of the website.

The challenges

Trying to add so many features of Pop Art while keeping the website clear and legible was a balancing act, but I think it worked out. It is a lot to look at, but I think it works!

The overall feeling

I really like how bright and colorful is and I am happy with how all the colors and photos worked together.
